Positive vote by ITRE for the Report on the review of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD)

On 11 October 2017, the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) of the European Parliament voted positively for the Report on the review of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), approving the rules to channel the focus towards energy-efficiency and cost-effectiveness of building renovations in the EU, updating the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) as part of the “Clean Energy for All Europeans” package. According to the rapporteur of the Committee, Bendt Bendtsen (EPP, DK), this vote of the Parliament gives a boost to long-term planning of energy efficiency renovations, facilitating access to financial tools, showing investors that energy efficiency renovations are prioritised, and enabling public authorities to invest in well-performing buildings.
